Eleven years . . . That's right, we have been sponsoring this tournament for the last 11 years and in that time have

raised over $360,000,  every cent of which has been used to fund A.L.S. research projects and to provide

patient care right here in Connecticut. You may recall that our first tournament almost didn't happen because

it was scheduled three days after September 11, 2001. But despite the tragic events of that day, the tournament

was held. We had a full field of golfers and a little respite from the images and memories of that terrible event in

our history. This year we are very happy to continue our partnership with the Connecticut Chapter of A.L.S.A

which will be providing support for the tournament by sharing their statewide resources and personnel to

make this year's tournament our most successful ever. As you probably know, this organization provides

Connnecticut A.L.S. patients with all kinds of resources to aid them in their fight against this terrible disease.

They provide wheelchairs, ramps, caregiver education and support and other services that make the lives

of these victims, and their families better as a result of their great work. Connecticut Friends for A.L.S. Research

has helped support this organization financially right from the beginning.

As you may know, Chief States Attorney, John M. Bailey (pictured at left) died

from a form of A.L.S. in 2003. As in the past, this years event will be held in his

memory and in memory of our friend forever, Elliot Macht. Debbie Macht

and Elizabeth Dee Bailey are both members of our planning committee and

have done a fantastic job of reaching out to the corporate community for

sponsors of this event.  Jim Bergenn, a long time friend of Jack Bailey, returns

for a ninth year and also returning this year is Maureen Kiniry, wife of

Chris Kiniry who is a long time supporter of our tournament and who was

diagnosed with A.L.S. several years ago.

Also, our tournament would not be the same without Ray Dunaway of WTIC radio. He has been with us

from the beginning and we thank him here for coming back as host and master of ceremonies for the dinner.

Ray's wit, coupled with his commitment to help find a cure for A.L.S., provide an unbeatable combination for

our organization.
